  • Operation Christmas Child: It's Time for Our Annual Collection: October 17 to November 1

For the fourth consecutive year, Holy Spirit Church is participating in Operation Christmas Child--the "Shoebox Ministry" in which we fill shoe boxes (or boxes of similar size) with small gifts for children who lack even the basic necessities of life, and who likely have never received a gift of any type in their lives.  Your help would be so much appreciated!  To support this effort, please consider purchasing one or more small items:  school supplies, tooth brushes, wash cloths, toys, socks, t-shirts or almost anything you feel would bring joy to a child.  Boxes will be set up at the entrances to the church beginning on the weekend of October 17/18, until the weekend of October 31/November 1.  At the end of the collection period a group of volunteers will sort the gifts by intended recipient:  boy/girl/age, and take them to the drop off location.  If you've not returned to in-person Mass but wish to support this effort, please contact Kim Rizzo at (973) 652-6615 so alternate donation drop off or pickup arrangements can be made.  Operation Christmas Child also asks for donations of $9 per box for processing and shipping, so a monetary donation (check made payable to Holy Spirit Church) would also be much appreciated if you prefer to give in that way.  For complete information contained on our flyer, please see our website at www.holyspiritparishnj.org.  Bring hope and joy to a child in need this Christmas!  Thank you for your support.

  • Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Do you know any adults who need to receive the sacraments of Baptism, First Eucharist or Confirmation? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
(RCIA) is the process by which adults are formally received into the Roman Catholic Church. RCIA is for adults who were never baptized, or were baptized in
another Christian tradition or those who were baptized as Catholics and never received Confirmation or First Eucharist. RCIA is a process of adult faith formation
that involves prayer, instruction, and discernment within the context of a small faith community.

For more information about the RCIA process at Holy Spirit, please contact Steve Kass at 973-879-3102 or stephenbkass@ gmail.com.

  • Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

    What is R.C.I.A.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the coming home of any adult into the full and warm embrace of God the Father and Holy Mother Church. It is a joyous time of growth, healing, and love in the life of any adult who comes to a relationship of faith, hope and love in God through Jesus Christ. Receiving the Sacraments of Initiation, namely Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist, the adult catechumen or candidate is welcomed into the full life of the Church and encouraged to engage in the life and ministries of the Church as faith leads to action.

The adult catechumen or candidate is also exposed to the life of holiness, a call from God experienced by all people, and the many ways he or she can live that call as a servant of Christ and His Church. The catechumen or candidate is exposed to the different spiritual traditions of the Church, as well as her charitable and liturgical activities and ministries, so that he or she can find a home in the life of the Church and contribute his or her gifts and talents to the building up of the kingdom of God.

RCIA is an 8-month process by which adult, baptized Catholics complete their sacraments of initiation, and those who would like to become Catholic for the first time receive their sacraments, is beginning registration now.  If you, or someone you know, is interested in joining these sessions, please call the Parish Office at (973) 696-1234.

  • Visits for the Homebound

If you know of someone who is homebound and would like to schedule a visit from one of our Eucharistic Ministers for Holy Communion, please have them call the Parish Office at (973) 696-1234.  Homebound individuals who would like a visit from Fr. David for the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick or the Sacrament of Reconciliation may also call the Parish Office to arrange for a visit.
