The Men of St. Joseph is a community of lay Roman Catholic men from multiple parishes in Northern New Jersey who look to St. Joseph as a role model and protector. Specifically, our mission is to provide a Christian brotherhood that enables men to become better disciples, husbands, fathers and members of our community through the inspiration of St. Joseph. The foundation of our community is built on the Christian notion of fraternity where men come together and support one another in their journey of faith. This fraternal foundation supports the three pillars of our community which are: prayer and study, evangelization and service. We invite you to learn more about us and discern if God is calling you to join the Men of St. Joseph and become a member of our Christian fraternity.

Altar servers are an essential part of the liturgy, assisting the priest and other ministers and drawing the people of God at Holy Spirit more deeply into our community prayer. They are especially needed for Saturday evening and Sunday Masses, as well as other major feasts and sacramental celebrations throughout the year. Young people in grades 3 and older are invited to serve in this ministry.
The Adult Choir and Children’s Choir sing at the liturgical celebration of major feasts and sacraments throughout the year. They also prepare performances of Advent Lessons and Carols and Good Friday Tenebrae. Eligible singers in the Children’s Choir perform in the yearly Pueri Cantores Festival in New York.
Every last Wednesday of the month, after the 8:30 AM Mass, children three and under and their caregivers are welcome to the Blessed Carlo Lounge for playtime and an opportunity to build friendships amongst children and adults alike!

Lectors proclaim the Word of God at Sunday and daily Mass, reading aloud passages from the Old and New Testaments as they are presented in the first and second readings. They also lead the community in offering petitions to God in the Prayers of the Faithful.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the priest and deacon in distributing the Eucharistic Body of Christ to the people of God during Mass.
Ushers offer hospitality to the people of God at Sunday Mass, welcoming parishioners and newcomers alike to our community celebration. They also assist in coordinating the presentation of the gifts and collection at the offertory.
Columbiettes are a Catholic women’s organization promoting the
spiritual, social, and charitable welfare of its members and all Catholic women. They rely on the intercession of Mary for guidance in guarding the common good, working through her to love and aid all members of the human family and to give assistance to the Knights of Columbus. Meetings are held in the evening of the fourth Tuesday of each month and membership is open to Catholic women ages 18 and older.

The women’s small group Bible study is an opportunity for prayerful conversation and fellowship. The group meets in the morning of the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, offering a welcoming space to discuss and reflect on Scripture, seeking to apply and live out the Word of God in the circumstances of everyday life.
The girls’ small group is an opportunity for 5th- and 6th-grade girls to grow in their relationship with Christ in a laid-back setting. Their time together is enriched by learning how scripture can apply to our lives, along with a craft or a game, seeking to foster community building and grow in friendship. The group meets once a month on select Friday evenings.
Once a month, our fellowship committee coordinates the offering of refreshments after Sunday Mass, giving members of our community an opportunity to share in the joy and friendship of our Christian faith.
Throughout the year our parish participates in various charitable giving opportunities including a coat drive, giving tree, Operation Christmas Child collection, souper-bowl collection, and Walking with Moms in Need collection.
Little Doves Ministry is a children-based Liturgy of the Word during Mass. The group gathers in the Cenacle, located in the downstairs of the Church, to read and discuss the readings from Mass in an age-appropriate format. Following the readings, our young people complete a small activity that correlates with the readings for the week. Little Doves meet 2-4 times a month during the 9am Mass.
Those who work to develop our online presence by developing and managing our website and social media accounts offer an invaluable service in promoting the activity of Holy Spirit and spreading the Word of God in the world today. They help us answer the call of Jesus: “Your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father” (Mt 5:16).
Lazarus ministers accompany grieving members of our parish community at funeral services, offering consolation and hospitality to those who attend. They are a valuable representation of the entire Holy Spirit family, who “rejoice with those who rejoice” and “weep with those who weep” (Rom 12:15).
Catechists serve in our family-based formation program, accompanying families in handing on the way of life proposed by Jesus Christ in the gospels to their children. They play an essential role in preparing our young people to receive the grace of God through the sacraments and maintain a loving relationship with him throughout their lives.
Art and environment ministers are responsible for beautifying our worship space, drawing the people of God into a deeper spirit of prayer during our liturgies. They are especially needed during the major feasts and seasons of the liturgical year, when particular care is taken so that our physical spaces reflect the mysteries we celebrate.
